Introduction
So Why Exactly Photon's?

Once upon a time...

There was a girl who was very bored. She started to daydream. She wondered... What if there was a tavern? What if anybody could go to that tavern? Anybody at all, no matter where/when they lived?

And thus, Photon's Crossing was born.

(Okay, simplified version but you get the drift.)

The idea for Photon's came from a number of sources. The first was, oddly enough, fanfiction. I've been writing it regularly for a number of months before so I had gotten into the (somewhat bad and very annoying) habit of coming up with plots for stories while watching TV or movies. (This was annoying because it interfered with my enjoyment of what I was watching.)

But I had just finished reading Spider Robinson's Callahan's Crosstime Saloon a few days earlier (highly recommended!) and I suppose that was exactly when the seed was sown.

I was very bored and was sitting at the computer, trying to write something. Anything. All of a sudden, it hit me. A tavern that transcended the boundaries of time and space. It needed a name, of course. I don't know exactly where I got Photon's Crossing from, but it seemed to fit in my mind.

So I started typing. Anne was the narrator. I did not know what I was going to do with her and was originally just going to have her as a spectator, not really participating in the Photon's life around her. If you've read the stories, you know how well that turned out!

All these characters tumbled out of me, demanding to be included: Samm, Scarlet Louis, Tim, Telrondil, Elizabeth, Uncle Rupert. They made up the Photon's regulars. Besides them, there were Melthus, Rull, and several others who have been briefly mentioned but have not yet played a significant part.

The thing I like the best about Photon's is that it is always growing. New characters are added. Familiar personages from mythology or history appear (I'm still trying to figure out how to have Batman show up without infringing on copyright laws!).

At first, the only people who read the stories were my friends. And then, I began posting them up at fanfiction.net and gained a few more fans through that method. Finally, the series had reached a point where I felt the need that it needed its own home.

So here we are. Twelve "cannon" stories and one fanfic of Photon's. And many more to come, I hope.
